News — A movie new this week gives thoughtful insight into how fallen soldiers are handled by the military. It is also a good way to come to understand funerals and the funeral process.
Exploring the shipment for funeral and burial from Dover Air Force Base to location in the USA is an important part of the movie on HBO.
“Taking Chance,” is a film which will appear for the first time 8 p.m. Saturday. The story is based on the personal account of Soldier Mike Strob’s April 2004 experience of escorting a fellow fallen soldier from Dover, Delaware to Dubois, Wyoming. The name of the Marine escorted was “Chance” The main actor is Kevin Bacon.
According to the Marine Lt.Col at :Delaware Online
“Chance Phelps was wearing his St. Christopher medal when he was killed on Good Friday,” Strobl wrote.
“Eight days later, I handed the medallion to his mother. I didn’t know
Chance before he died. Today, I miss him.”
This is a must see Movie. It will help you understand funeral cost and the cost of freedom. As a funeral director my experiences with military funerals, escorts, and families was heartfelt. This is touch the heart television. This is not your average funeral cost. The price of freedom is too high.
