Indigent Burials are growing in the Chicago Area and around the country. This according to the Chicago Tribune. This has been reported several times in 2009. First it was reported that bodies were piling up in the United Kingdom. later bodies were reported piling up in Los Angeles.
People are having trouble paying for funerals.
Cook County had about 30 percent more indigent burials in 2008 than the previous year. And coroners around the country say the number of government-paid burials and cremations started to rise when the economy tanked. Some cash-strapped localities have tapped into reserves or emergency funds to cover the cost.
