Walmart is selling Caskets online. This story hit the internet by storm. Now it has been revealed that Amazon will be selling Caskets in the first quarter of 2010. On November 10th 2009 the internet giant, began selling Star Legacy Funeral Network Products. That’s the same company that supplies Wal Mart with their caskets.
Amazon.Com needs to be watched. Stories are circulating they will be selling a full line of Caskets in 2010. There is already a do it yourself casket kit on sale at amazon and some furniture that can later be used as casket as well as a discounted Metal Casket.
This is not a permanent line of Caskets like the one The Star Legacy Funeral Network supplies Walmart. Amazon carrying a full line of caskets online on a permanent basis may provide some strong competition for the Funeral Home.
According to the MemorialBusinessJournal.com this is about to happen.
“What will happen when Amazon.com to start Selling CASKETS ONLINE?”
Star Legacy Funeral Network, the casket supplier to Wal-Mart, has reached an agreement with Internet giant Amazon.com to add an extensive line of cremation products to the site. The first wave of the rollout, 117 SKUs of cremation urns, appeared on Amazon.com on Nov. 10. In about two weeks the rest of Star Legacy’s cremation offerings — pet urns, jewelry and flowers — will be added.
Caskets distributed by Star Legacy are expected to appear on Amazon.com in the first quarter of 2010.”-snippet from www.memorialjournal.com
