The State of Colorado has closed the wrong body, wrong Casket Funeral Home
“The state has ordered a funeral home that mixed up the bodies of two women to close next week so regulators can investigate the incident.
Pipkin Mortuary mistakenly buried the remains of Imogene Jackson, 64, in a casket that should have held Evelyn Jackson.
The interred body was exhumed, and Pipkin held Imogene Jackson’s funeral Saturday.
Chris Lines, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, said the mortuary will be shut down as of Monday as the state investigates.
“We will want an accounting of everything that happened in this situation,” Line said.
Pipkin was already in violation of regulations calling for all funeral homes in the state to register by Jan. 1, Lines said. Funeral homes have had since November to submit their applications.
Pipkin officials brought in their registration application Monday morning.
The state won’t review the application until the investigation is complete.”via www.denverpost.com

The remains of 100 people from a bankrupt funeral home have been found in a Storage Locker in the Atlanta Area. This is an example funeral directors not showing proper respect of the dead.
Cremated remains need to be picked up, buried sacttered or put on the shelf. They Should not be left in a storage locker.
It is always best when someone dies and is cremated to pick up the remains. Cremation is the best way to come in under the average cost of a funeral. Cremated remains need to be picked up or disposed of within a certain time frame according to funeral law.
The remains, which date back 20 years or more, were found in a suburban storage unit.
It is believed the family that operated the Atlanta, Georgia funeral home placed the remains in the storage units, along with furniture, files and other items, over a year and a half ago when the funeral home declared bankruptcy.
Representatives of the funeral home said the remains had been stored so families would have the opportunity of retrieving them if they so wished.
The coroner’s office has been trying to notify bereaved families of the existence of the unclaimed remains which, according to law, should have been turned over to a coroner to be buried within 60 days from the cremation.-via www.kazakhstannews.net

Wal Mart selling Caskets online is a tipping point for the the Funeral Industry. Things are tipping away from the Traditional Funeral and towards the lower cost funeral and funeral expenses that are less.
Wal Mart selling caskets maybe a turning point for the traditional funeral home
There is a strong case for a traditional funeral home demise. Cremations are to hit 38% this year in the USA. The cremation rate is going to continue to grow maybe exponentially. Alternative funerals are exploding. Americans are facing the end of prosperity as we know it. No end to unemployment is in site.
The hard reality is you do not need a funeral director to select a casket. Fed Ex the one who deliver the Wal Mart Caskets have a next day delivery damage free just like Batesville Casket Company!
The funeral director argument about THE TRADITIONAL FUNERAL HOME offering a low cost casket is bogus, A presswood cardboard casket is not a metal one!

Take note a low cost funeral home can provide the same if not better experience than a traditional one.
Traditional Funeral Homes are going the way of the full service gas station.
The statement that Wal Mart is selling Caskets is not a threat is a poor defense of the Statusquo for Funeral Homes.
