The earth underneath the funeral industry will be  having major earthquake soon. The tremors are bringing  the average cost of  a funeral down. When the earthquake hits funeral costs will go down to rock bottom lows.

The Earth tremors underneath the Funeral Industry and  is about to quake. Here is why:

1.The economy is causing folks to choose lower cost funeral options. Most Major news organizations have run a report on this.

2.Trans Cultural population growth is  happening across North America. Simply put these folks expect funerals to happen like in their country of origin.  Many of them have a distaste for the American Way of Funeral. They prefer less expensive options.

3.Cremation is growing faster than expected.

guaranteed, not non guaranteed which has quickly become the only sound financial alternative for the for the Funeral Director.

6.Scandals, in in terms of the treatment of deceased  loved ones, veterans, families and preneed funds misappropriated or stolen. SPECIAL THANKS FOR SCANDALS TO  Service Corporation International( NYSE:SCI), the Illinois Funeral Directors Association(IFDA Randall L Earl) and National Prearranged Services (NPS)

All  of the above contibutes to a coming earthquake in the American Funeral Industry. Sadly some  National Funeral leaders (NFDA)-Randall L Earl and Politicians have played key roles in  these events.

The Cemetery Needs to adjust to the Rise in Cremations

The Cemetery Needs to adjust to the Rise in Cremations

Funeral Fire-cremation- is lowering the average cost of a funeral in 2009. A recent report from Colorado Springs states that cremation  may be putting some  historical cemeteries  out of business. An (AP) report at koaa.com article states.

“The problem for Evergreen and Fairview cemeteries is that more people are choosing cremation over burial. The trend is even stronger in El Paso County, which cemetery manager Will DeBoer says has one of the highest cremation rates nationwide.

In 2007, 63 percent of the roughly 3,300 people who died in the county were cremated. And only 10 percent of the cremated remains were taken to Evergreen and Fairview cemeteries.”

This was verified in national reports from the two largest funeral- cemetery corporations: Service Corporation International (SCI) and Stewart Enterprises Inc.(STEI) have reported downturns in cemetery sales in their latest earning reports.

Be sure to let me know how you accomplished your lower cost funeral.

I have declared the average cost of a Funeral in 2009 to be 8,500+ USD. The average cost of a funeral in 2009 appears to be moving downward due to the economy and cremation.

In Order to Become Comfortable Thinking about Death Your Thoughts Must be Changed.

In Order to Become Comfortable Thinking about Death Your Thoughts Must be Changed.

The first thing one has to to do to come in under the average cost of a funeral is to think about death. That is something that our minds just do not want to do.

In order to bring  our minds around to acceptance and comfort with the thought of death our mind needs to be tricked or changed.

The best way to trick your mind and get down into your subconscious is to laugh. Yes one needs to laugh about death. It best  is to send in clowns or at least  one  clown with a key to help with your thoughts about death.

No this does not mean that you invite a clown to a funeral although many

clowns usually show up.

You need to find the Right clown with the Right Key to change your mind so you are comfortable with thoughts about death. It is not all that difficult. The clown though must be a part of your generation.

After you become comfortable thinking about death, coming in under the average cost of funeral is not all that difficult. Laughing is the key.

Stats on the Average Funeral Home affect Average Funeral Cost

Stats on the Average Funeral Home affect Average Funeral Cost

Statistics on the Average Funeral Home affect the average cost of a Funeral.  By looking at two statistics about the average funeral home you can come up with the industry standard for the average cost of a funeral.

First the Average Funeral Home does 100 funerals a year. This is down from several years ago when the National Funeral Directors Association  said the average number of Funerals done by a Funeral Home was 112 per year.

Second the average funeral home makes about 1 million USD per year. That may come as a surprise  to some. Consider  Traditional Funeral Homes have a large number of fixed assets.

So if we do simple math the average cost of a funeral is $10,000 per funeral.

There has been a rise in folks asking for a low or lower cost funerals. This is do primarily to the economic downturn. There has been a rise in cremations since the Wall Street crisis last September. We will be covering that in depth  in the future. For now you should know that because of this I have called the average cost of a funeral in 2009 to be 8,500.00+ USD per year. This does not include the cemetery costs.

What does a Funeral Cost? What  does the average funeral cost? This is very hard to determine. A Funeral is a combination of many individual choices. Every one’s choices are different. So essentially there is no average funeral. The median cost of a funeral can be referred  to as the average cost of  a funeral. Your cost is determined at your arrangement conference.

The median

Funeral Cost/Funeral Arrangement

Funeral Cost/Funeral Arrangement

means equal dollar  number above and equal number below. Industry analysts say it is $10,000 USD. The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) say it is $7,323.00 USD.

The NFDA  states that the average cost  in the  South to be $7,807.00USD.  They call the average in the the Pacific Mountain Region to be $6,514.00 USD.

Due to the economy folks are opting for the lower cost funeral and cremations. However in order for costs to significantly come down, the cremation rate needs to be above the current 35% nationwide. Also third party casket purchases need to be more than 15% (be sure to get your casket on the internet). In spite of economic pressures for lower cost funerals, people over 70 want the traditional event and  to pay a little less.

With all these factors taken into consideration I have declared the average or median cost of a funeral in 2009 to be $8,500.00+ USD.
