LOS ANGELES – Death can do wonders for a star’s image, with a survey of online sites showing singer Michael Jackson and actor Patrick Swayze were among the celebrities that generated the most positive comments this year.
U.S.-based marketing firm Zeta Interactive scanned comments on more than 100 million blogs and websites to determine which celebrities received the best, and worst, “buzz” in 2009 to produce a snapshot of public opinion.
Jackson, who died aged 50 in June from an overdose of powerful medications, was ranked the best buzzed celebrity of 2009, followed by talk show host Oprah Winfrey, teen country music singer Taylor Swift and Swayze.

Mrs. Jackson’s attorneys were granted the request for $1 million. The administrators noted this was in addition to the costs of the Staples Center tribute, which was approved by the court as part of the agreement with entertainment group AEG.
Outside court on Tuesday, lawyer Howard Weitzman, who represents the administrators, said: ”I would have done it less expensively. But it was Michael Jackson, who was larger than life. There’s no reason he should not have a funeral that’s larger than life.”
