The State of Colorado has closed the wrong body, wrong Casket Funeral Home

The state has ordered a funeral home that mixed up the bodies of two women to close next week so regulators can investigate the incident.

Pipkin Mortuary mistakenly buried the remains of Imogene Jackson, 64, in a casket that should have held Evelyn Jackson.

The interred body was exhumed, and Pipkin held Imogene Jackson’s funeral Saturday.

Chris Lines, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, said the mortuary will be shut down as of Monday as the state investigates.

“We will want an accounting of everything that happened in this situation,” Line said.

Pipkin was already in violation of regulations calling for all funeral homes in the state to register by Jan. 1, Lines said. Funeral homes have had since November to submit their applications.

Pipkin officials brought in their registration application Monday morning.

The state won’t review the application until the investigation is complete.”via www.denverpost.com

In Philadelphia wrong person in casket-Worst Possible Funeral

In Philadelphia wrong person in casket-Worst Possible Funeral

Recently in Philadelphia the wrong body was mourned by 200 people. The deceased was in the the correct clothes. But it was not “Kevin Tex Roberts” the retired Truck Driver. It was someone else. In spite of protests from the wife, the funeral employee stated that’s how they look when they die..

Snippet from www.nbcphiladelphia.com

“When the funeral director finally admitted to the family that there was a “mix-up,” right before the funeral was about to start, more havoc followed:

Relatives cried and children were hysterical. A 19-year-old had a seizure and a woman had an asthma attack. Both were brought to the hospital.

The man in Roberts’ casket appeared older than Roberts and relatives were told that man had been killed, said Wearing. Roberts’ body had been in a casket at the Francis Funeral Home in West Philadelphia, which is run by the same funeral director, 6ABC reported.

The horror didn’t stop there:

When the funeral employees finally located and brought the real Roberts, his legs were hanging out of a tilted casket when the hearse door was opened.

Wearing told the Daily News that the funeral employees must have driven so fast, hitting bumps, so that the casket opened.”

This is kind of mistake is unacceptable. One should always hold the Funeral Director accountable throughout the funeral process.
